The cause is more often an internet service that can’t carry the load, a switch or uplink that saturates at busy times, a cable run that never properly supported the access point, or a channel plan competing with the tenancy next door.

Designing for devices, not floor area

Coverage maps sell hardware. Device counts design networks.

A meeting room with twelve people on video calls puts more demand on an access point than a much larger warehouse aisle with three scanners. Wi-Fi is shared airtime, so one slow legacy device holds up others on the same access point — which is why an old printer or a distant handset can affect a whole area.

We design from how the space is actually used: people per area, devices per person, what those devices do, and where they move. That usually means fewer access points placed properly rather than more placed conveniently, with transmit power set so devices roam to the nearest one instead of clinging to a distant one.

Separating traffic is the highest-value change

On many small business networks, everything shares one flat network — staff laptops, guest phones, printers, cameras, payment and booking systems, and increasingly the phone system.

That means a guest streaming video can affect a call, and a compromised device can see everything. Separating traffic into distinct networks and VLANs, with sensible limits on guest access, is often the single most valuable change we make on an existing site. It also makes faults far easier to isolate, because problems can be narrowed to one group of devices.

Built to be supportable

A network is only as good as the next person’s ability to change it safely. We label patching, document switch ports, VLANs and wireless networks, and hand over management access properly.

How do you decide where to put access points?
We start with your floor plan, building materials and device count, then run a predictive Wi-Fi survey. For larger or complex sites we do an on-site survey with calibrated equipment so coverage and capacity match real-world conditions.
Can you separate guest Wi-Fi from staff Wi-Fi?
Yes. Standard practice is separate SSIDs and VLANs for staff, guest, voice and IoT devices, with the right firewall rules between them so guest traffic can't see your internal network.
What hardware do you use?
We default to Ubiquiti UniFi for most small-to-mid business deployments because it gives enterprise-grade features without enterprise licensing. We also work with other vendors when a specific use case calls for it.
Will my existing cabling work, or does it need to be upgraded?
We assess your current cabling before quoting. Cat5e is usually fine for Wi-Fi 6 access points, but PoE budgets, switch capacity and cable lengths all matter — we'll flag any upgrades up front, not after the install.
Do you provide ongoing support?
Yes. We can monitor your network remotely, push firmware updates, and respond to issues under a service agreement, or work job-by-job — whichever suits you.
Do you handle full business network setup, not just Wi-Fi?

We diagnose before quoting hardware — the first test is simply plugging a laptop in and repeating the complaint.
Can you cover a warehouse or large open area?
Yes, though it is a different design from an office. Coverage has to reach across open floor and around racking that moves, access points need mounting heights and enclosures suited to dust and forklift traffic rather than a suspended ceiling, and cable runs are longer, which affects where switching has to sit. Where separate buildings are involved, a point-to-point wireless link is often cheaper than trenching.
